My Story…
I first made the decision to travel solo in late 2014.
At the time, I was working as a receptionist, and although I genuinely did enjoy my job, I always felt that life was passing me by a little too fast. People my age were already beginning to settle down, have children and buy their own homes. And although I was happy for them, it just wasn’t me.
Something was missing.
I had always longed for adventure. I wanted to travel, experience different cultures and do some crazy things. I wanted to spend my days in the sun, swim in crystal clear oceans, visit temples and see elephants. I wanted to go rock climbing, cliff jumping and climb mountains. I wanted to do it all, and the more I sat behind my computer screen at work, the more I would dream.
Then one day (as cliché as it sounds) something finally clicked. I didn’t want the dream, I wanted the real thing. So I booked a one-way ticket to New Zealand and never looked back!
Since then, I’ve visited several countries solo, swam in many oceans (I became a certified PADI Open Water scuba diver at age 14 and am now a professional PADI Divemaster) and have had the time of my life. And you know what? I’m nowhere near ready for it to stop!
