Pinewood Lodge: Our First Self-Built Tiny Home
Pinewood Lodge: Small footprint...big undertaking.

The decision to build our first tiny home was actually, a straightforward one.
Josh and I were sitting in bed at my parent’s house looking at static caravans, wondering how long it would be until we could afford to buy one outright and where we could put it. We’d both decided we weren’t mortgage kind of people, but nor were we traditional renters. The picket fence life wasn’t quite for us.
After scrolling through several pages of all kinds of different caravans the lightbulb suddenly went off - why don’t we just build one?
I’ve always admired tiny homes ever since I first saw an Alaskan couple build one on YouTube. I’d often daydream about buying acres of land, digging out a little river and sticking a tiny house in the middle of it all. Just me and my imaginary dog, off-grid, in complete solitude. That dream soon evolved into buying a van, converting it and travelling the world with the said imaginary dog.
Long story short - that didn’t happen.
Using the age-old excuse - life got in the way.
But fast forward a few years, and I’m now typing this whilst sitting in my cosy cabin, fire blazing, looking out towards the donkeys in the field opposite and the sheep in the field beyond that. Ocean views are only a short 10-minute walk away with both country and coastal walks in abundance.
I’ve hit the jackpot.
But none of it would be possible without the people who supported and helped us along the way.
And none of it would have happened at all without my incredibly gifted and talented better half, Josh.
If you are intrigued about our build and would like to see some actual footage of Josh building it from an old mobile container to what it is now, then please enjoy the video below. And with that, I suppose all that’s left to say is welcome to Pinewood Lodge!
Small footprint...big undertaking. Pinewood Lodge in the making!
