Top 10 Eco Travel Products
I’m pretty big on doing my part for the environment. Every day I learn something new about our beautiful planet Earth and even better, I learn new ways on how to protect it.
Like all of us, I still have a long way to go in order to make a huge difference but if you’re like me and want to do your part for the environment, then why not start off small?
Switching out your everyday products for more eco-friendly options is a good start but how about changing your travel products too?
Not sure where to begin? Don’t worry, I’ve got you! Here’s my list of Top 10 Eco Travel Products...
Solar Powered Power Bank
When you’re out in the wilderness and you’re feeling a little lost, your phone becomes your lifeline.
But what if you’re in the middle of nowhere and it’s out of battery? Easy, pack a portable solar charger and you’re good to get going again!
The Solar Power Bank, Qi Portable Charger by Blavor should satisfy!
Sustainable Cutlery Set
I’m a sucker for a cute little travel cutlery set!
I much prefer a reusable bamboo set that includes a sustainable straw but there are some stainless steel options too.
When you’re on the go and need to grab something to eat, you’ll notice that most salad/pasta pots come with a little plastic fork. Don’t do it! Step away from the plastic!
Instead, pack your own lunch and supply your own little cutlery set.
Check out Etsy for some cute sets by local sellers.
Reusable Water Bottle
Hands down, one of the easiest and smartest ways to begin your eco-conscious journey is to provide yourself with a reusable water bottle.
Don’t bother wasting your money on plastic water bottles, just refill your own one.
Save your pennies and in turn, save the planet!
You can get these anywhere but I bought my aqua bottle from Turtle Can.
Reusable Coffee Cup
Do you enjoy a hot drink when you’re on the go?
Whether it be glass, husk or stainless steel, having a reusable coffee cup on hand will be an absolute lifesaver - in more ways than one. No matter where you are in the world, many coffee shops will shave money off your total if you provide your own cup. Bonus!
I actually bought mine from a coffee shop called Mojo in New Zealand, but check out Eco Vibe for some great options!
Plastic Free Toiletry Set
Another easy step into the world of Zero-Waste is to avoid single-use plastics and get yourself some environmentally friendly toiletry products.
Bamboo toothbrushes are a great natural and ethical alternative, the same goes for bamboo cotton buds. Sort yourself out with a little kit, the planet will thank you for it!
Green Planet Beauty has some beautiful little sets to add to your toiletry bag!
Shampoo & Conditioner Bar
Ditch the weighty plastic bottles and save yourself some space in your travel bag!
Not only do shampoo and conditioner bars last a hell of a lot longer than your average bottle, but using an organic and natural bar can benefit the health of your hair and the planet.
Check out Peace With the Wild! I really love their products but I love their shampoo and conditioner bars even more.
Safety Razor
Plastic disposable razors are a thing of the past thanks to the ever-stylish safety razor.
These babies are guaranteed to reduce skin irritation and pesky ingrown hairs by using only one single blade against your skin, rather than the average three.
The rose-gold safety razor from Bambaw is a winner in my eyes.
Natural Deodorant
Finding a natural deodorant that works for you can be hard work but once you find ‘the one’, you’ll never look back.
Filled with natural minerals and essential oils, natural deodorants can improve the condition of your armpits leaving them smooth, soft and smelling fresh.
Again, I recommend browsing Peace With the Wild to find your favourite!
Reef Safe Sunscreen & Lip Balm
As a scuba diver, I often look for reef safe products as marine health is incredibly important to me.
Usually, it’s best not to wear sunscreen at all during deep-sea diving but protecting your skin against the sun’s rays whilst out on the boat or enjoying yourself at the beach, is very important.
The chemicals in your average sun protectant can be extremely detrimental to the environment, so check your labels and always go with a reef safe option.
My go-to at the moment is the Butterbean SPF 30 Good Sun Sport Stick for days when I don’t mind what I look like HOWEVER I’m a natural caramel-toned girl and that means that in the sun, I turn a deep golden brown. So I like my sunscreen to fully blend in rather than leave white marks, making me look ashy and ill. For this reason, I use Tropic Great Barrier Sun Lotion SPF 50 or Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 and sometimes BGS Kids SPF 50 (if I can get my hands on it). Remember, it doesn’t matter what skin tone you have, the sun’s rays don’t discriminate!
Reusable Sanitary Products
Ah, that monthly gift that mother nature likes to give us women… It can quite frankly be straight up annoying!
Not only can the products be expensive but when you’re travelling, it’s the last thing you want to deal with.
However, as you can leave them in for up to 12 hours at a time, menstrual cups can eliminate this issue pretty quickly and effectively. Alongside this, preparing yourself with a few reusable sanitary pads can save you a lot of money in the long run as all you need to do is throw them in the wash when used!
I’m a big fan of the traditional Moon Cup but my friend loves the Intimina Ziggy Menstrual Cup Kit! As for the pads, try Etsy!
I’ve tried to include as many direct sellers as possible to try and encourage small business shopping.
I understand how difficult this pandemic has been and how important it is to support small businesses.
I will also add here that buying from local, small businesses also helps with our carbon footprint! Win-win!
And no, I don’t earn commission on any of the links I have included. Everything I have linked has been found through my own research and/or experience. If you choose to buy any of the products, your money will go directly to the business itself.
