Why Travel to Malaysia?

Malaysia is probably best known for being a big multicultural melting-pot of all different people and religions! As well as being home to such a diverse community, Malaysia also has diverse lands, skylines and attractions - yet somehow, it all works! But what is it that makes this country so special and why should you travel to Malaysia?

Culture

Malaysia is literally home to so many people! Malays (the largest group), Chinese (the second largest), Indians (the third largest) and many other indigenous groups have all lived together, side by side, for generations spanning back hundreds of years. Of course, as well as being a multicultural country, it's also a multilingual one! In Malaysia, the official language is Malay but other major languages include English, Chinese Dialects, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Malaysia’s major religions include Islam, Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, Christianity and Sikhism. The overall culture originates from the indigenous people but has been influenced over the years by the many different groups that arrived afterwards, especially by the Chinese and Indian influences.

Malaysia is such a vibrant country, full of colour, full of life and full of celebration! There are a number of different holidays and festivities throughout the year for all religions, most notably - Hari Merdeka (Independence Day) on August 31st, Malaysia Day on September 16th, Labour Day on May 1st and The King’s Birthday in June.

The locals are very kind, warm and welcoming towards others which is highly reflected throughout daily life, especially within hospitality! Along with their kindness, you never have to worry about getting lost as English is a widely used language throughout the entire country, which makes it a little easier for tourists who can also speak English.

Scenery

Malaysia has such divergent landscapes ranging from beautiful beaches to bustling cities, from mountainous backdrops to magnificently tall skyscrapers. In the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, the Petronas Twin Towers absolutely dominate the modern skyline and are a sight to behold. Whereas in the Cameron Highlands, the Sungai Palas tea plantation offers a completely opposing and natural view of the highlands. There are several architectural designs to visit such as temples and mosques all throughout Malaysia, as well as authentic and traditional surroundings.

Activities

Whether you’re the adventurous type or enjoy things a bit more relaxed, there’s plenty of activities to do in Malaysia! Delight in the modern skyline of Kuala Lumpur, visit the Batu Caves, go trekking and enjoy the tropical waters whilst kayaking! If you want to take things one step further, challenge yourself to hike Mountain Kinabalu, the highest Mountain in all Malaysia! Or why not go Scuba Diving?

There are also several museums, art galleries and tours you can explore. Or perhaps some Malaysian cuisine is more up your street? Enjoy the copious amounts of different culinary experiences available throughout all the regions and let your taste buds do the work!

This is just a short snippet of what Malaysia has to offer (there is so much more, trust me!) but I hope you found this snapshot guide helpful!
